描かれているのは群衆ではない。一人の人物が、雨の日に、異なる時間軸で存在している複数の瞬間を、一つの平面に圧縮している。

雨は選べない。垂直に引かれた無数の線は装飾ではなく、全ての行動の前提となる同じ条件として機能している。

人物は傘で顔を隠している。一定の条件において、人がとる同じ行動パターン、争い、手段、道具。傘は道具だ。浮世絵の伝統において傘は個人のアイデンティティを消去する装置として繰り返し使われてきた。顔がないだけでなく、個体の差異もほとんどない。全員が同じ人物だからだ。

残るのは身体の角度、重心、傘の傾き。選択できない条件に対して、身体がどう応答するかという微細な差異だけだ。

浮世絵は人々を観察し、記録した。強い主張もなく、技法も似ていて、でも確かに残った。この作品も同じことをしている。雨の日の今ここにいる人間を、記録している。

デジタルの時代に描かれたこの線は、何百年後には残らないかもしれない。 それでも、記録される。 記憶することは、すでにつくる行為だから。 時間に連れ去られるのではなく、その中に何かを残すために。

This is not a crowd. It is one person — compressed into a single plane across multiple moments, each existing on a different timeline, all on the same rainy day.

The rain is not a choice. The countless vertical lines are not decoration. They are the condition — the same condition for everyone.

The figures hide their faces beneath umbrellas. Under fixed conditions, people reach for the same patterns: the same conflicts, the same methods, the same tools. The umbrella is a tool. In the ukiyo-e tradition, the umbrella has long functioned as a device that erases individual identity. Here, not only are the faces gone — the differences between figures have nearly vanished too. Because they are all the same person.

What remains is the angle of a body, the shift of weight, the tilt of an umbrella. Only the smallest differences in how a body responds to conditions it cannot choose.

Ukiyo-e observed people and recorded them. Without grand statements, with similar techniques, across many hands — and still, it remained. This work does the same. It records a person, on a rainy day, here and now.

The lines drawn in the digital age may not survive a hundred years, let alone a thousand. Even so — they are recorded. Because memory is already an act of making. Not to be carried away by time, but to leave something within it.
